The committee will monitor Egypt's implementation of its international obligations that are connected with human rights and compile periodical reports.

The move comes upon directives from President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to take both institutional and executive actions to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedom in accordance with Egyptian constitution.

The new committee will establish a mechanism to deal with and respond to allegations raised against Egypt about human rights, official MENA news agency reported.

CAIRO, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian government approved on Wednesday a draft resolution to form a permanent higher committee of human rights.

The new body will also monitor, study and address human rights problems at the international level and provide advice and procedures to implement recommendations of the Universal Periodic Review mechanism of the United Nations Human Rights Council.
